Comparison of the characteristics for naming geographical objects in Chinese and Western cultures

Toponym is rich in cultural connotations, which can help human beings understand the economy, culture, geography, religion of a certain region and stage. With increasing intercultural communication, exchange has been extended to people's work life significance influence toponym cross-cultural communication gradually highlighted. This paper compares similarities differences between Chinese Western place name from three aspects. Due unity thought, there are names. But because great China West, also more deliberate rigorous while western people treat only as an accusative symbol naming it casual flexible. Therefore, study provide insight into characteristics cultures important for promotion exchange. The article considers prospect using information computer technologies processing wide layers toponymic material.
